Rock, metal, punk, emo, and hip-hop collide as Aftershock returns to Discovery Park for another massive weekend of music.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The countdown is underway for Aftershock 2026, as Sacramento prepares to welcome rock and metal fans from across the country for four days of live music, packed crowds, and high-energy performances.
The festival is scheduled for October 1–4, 2026, at Discovery Park. This year's event brings together established rock acts, metal performers, punk bands, and alternative artists, creating a lineup designed to appeal to multiple generations of fans.
Four major acts will headline the festival: My Chemical Romance, Limp Bizkit, Pierce the Veil, and Tool. Each band represents a different chapter of modern rock, giving the weekend a broad musical identity rather than focusing on a single style.
Thursday's opening night is expected to attract fans of My Chemical Romance, with The Offspring and Sublime also featured on the bill. Friday shifts toward heavier and more aggressive sounds, with Limp Bizkit joined by artists including $uicideboy$ and Wu-Tang Clan.
Saturday continues the festival's mix of styles with Pierce the Veil, BABYMETAL, and A Day to Remember among the featured performers. Sunday closes the four-day event with Tool, Queens of the Stone Age, and Danny Elfman.
The appeal of Aftershock, however, is not limited to its headliners. Dozens of additional performers will take the festival's smaller stages, giving attendees opportunities to discover emerging artists alongside established names.
The festival also reflects how broadly the term "rock" has come to be interpreted. Punk, metal, emo, alternative rock, and other related genres share space throughout the weekend, creating an environment where fans with very different musical tastes can find common ground.
For Sacramento, Aftershock is also a major event for the city's live-entertainment calendar. Discovery Park will temporarily transform from a public recreation area into a large-scale festival site, with thousands of visitors expected to fill the grounds.
