Green Day’s upcoming film, New Years Rev, is on the way, with the band teasing it on Instagram as “the story of three young punks who risk it all to chase their dream.” The announcement was paired with the film’s official poster.

The project is described as a wild road trip comedy. Its 55-second trailer begins with two teens lounging in a poster-filled bedroom, reminiscing about the time they “almost opened for Green Day.” Backed by the band’s 2004 anthem “Holiday,” the teaser captures their reckless adventure, including stealing a cab and setting out on a chaotic cross-country trip to land a New Year’s Eve show with their heroes.

The trailer closes with electrifying stage footage of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool performing, before the words “Coming Soon” flash on screen.

At the center of the story is a fictional garage band, The Analog Dogs, whose biggest dream is to meet Green Day and open for them. When the trio believes they’ve finally secured the chance after handing off their demo tape, they soon learn the gig was nothing more than a cruel prank by one of their brothers.

“Still wide-eyed and hopeful, the three set out from Kansas to California, convinced they can turn their dream into reality,” reads the official synopsis.

According to Green Day, the film is both a heartfelt homage to classic road-trip movies and a celebration of ’90s culture, capturing the spirit of chasing impossible dreams. The soundtrack will include more than a dozen tracks from the band’s catalog.

The film stars Mason Thames, Mckenna Grace, Fred Armisen, Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, and comedian Bobby Lee. New Years Rev will premiere on September 12 at the Toronto International Film Festival and is co-produced by Green Day and Live Nation Productions.
